IMF mission to start working in Ukraine on Tuesday, IMF to assess situation, says IMF managing director
A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will start operating in Ukraine on Tuesday, Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the IMF, has said.
IMF intends to asses the situation before holding consultations with Ukrainian authorities, she said.
Lagarde also said that she would discuss the situation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk in the afternoon on Monday.
Commenting on the actions of the U.S. Federal Reserve System, Lagarde said in Bilbao (Spain) that the course of reducing the economy stimulation program taken by the government was good news in itself.
She also said that the European Central Bank should take measures aimed at further supporting monetary and credit policy, as the risks of long-term low inflation could affect the economy of the eurozone.
