Russia might suspend air navigation services for AeroSvit Jan 15
The State Corporation for Organization of Air Traffic in the Russian Federation (ORvD) might stop providing air navigation services to the aircraft of Ukrainian airline AeroSvit effective January 15, the Federal Air Transport Agency said in a statement. "For a long time the private company AeroSvit Airlines (Ukraine) has been a chronic nonpayer of air navigation fees for flight services in the air space of the Russian Federation," the agency said. The airline has repeatedly been late in paying for air navigation services. AeroSvit presented a guarantee for payment of overdue debt by January 10, 2013. This promise was not met," the agency said, adding that considering that many passengers and tourists are currently being flown home from vacation destinations, ORvD has agreed to give the Ukrainian airline until January 15 to pay the debt. "If the debt is not paid, as of 00:00 Moscow time on January 15, 2013, air navigation services for the aircraft of AeroSvit Airlines in the air space of the Russian Federation will be stopped completely," the agency said. ORvD suspended services to the Ukrainian company in late December 2012 over a debt of $1.5 million, after which the company paid off the debt.
