Kyivmiskbud plans to build residential blocks with 106 apartments for Elita-center fraud victims in 2013

Public joint-stock company Kyivmiskbud Holding (Kyiv), one of the largest constructors in Ukraine, plans in 2013 to build six residential buildings in Kyiv, where 106 apartments or 5,698 square meters will be transferred to Elita-center fraud victims, a posting on the holding's Web site says.

According to the report, the buildings at 39G, Harmatna Street, 7V, Revutskoho Street, 1A, Khorolska Street, 28-32, Radunska Street, 40 Drahomanova Street and a building at intersection of Armianska and Kharkivske Shose streets will have the said apartments.

The holding also said that at present, housing construction is being conducted on nine out of 14 land plots where buildings with apartments for Elita-center fraud victims will be located.

As reported, in 2011, the holding gave 131 apartments (9,903 square meters) to Elita-center fraud victims in three buildings (at 5, Pravdy Street, 1-3, Mayakovskoho Street and 1, Havro Street). In 2012, no apartments were given.

In April 2012, Kyiv City Council cut the share of apartments that Kyivmiskbud is to transfer to victims of the Elita-Center fraud, from 25% to 5.6%.

A massive scam was uncovered on the real estate market in Kyiv in 2006. About 1,759 people were defrauded by the Elita-Center Group, whose representatives took money from the public as payment for housing that was not built. The total sum stolen from the victims was estimated at about UAH 400 million.

According to the Interior Ministry of Ukraine, damage of over UAH 90 million has been refunded in the Elita-center fraud case.
