The former head coach of FC Volyn Lutsk, Vitaliy Kvartsiany, has returned to the team and has been tasked with retaining a place in the Ukrainian Premier League.

"The new acting head coach of the team was today introduced to the players and administrative personnel of FC Volyn. Vitaliy Volodymyrovych Kvartsiany, who was in charge of Volyn in 1989-1990, 1994-1996, 2001-2011 and led the team in 698 matches, is returning to the team," reads a statement posted on the club's official Web site on Tuesday.

"The main task of the team now is to stay in the Premier League, and the entire work of the club is dedicated to the fulfillment of this goal," the club's press service reported.

As reported, on April 27, Volyn and its head coach, well-known former Dynamo Kyiv player Anatoliy Demianenko, agreed to terminate his contract. The 54-year-old Demianenko took charge of the team on January 8, 2012.

After 27 rounds of the 2012-2013 Ukrainian Premier League, Volyn is in 14th place in the table of 16 teams and is just four points from the relegation zone.

Recent media reports pointed to financial problems in Volyn. Demianenko spoke at press conferences after the last matches of the team that the players were not getting bonuses and salaries and that the team had no place to train. However, the club said there were problems, but they would be resolved.
