Evgeny Khmara: music that heals

Since ancient times, great thinkers, scientists, composers and musicians have tried to unravel the mystery of sound and its effect on humans. The famous composer and virtuoso pianist Evgeny Khmara is trying to get an answer to the same question. Recently, he has announced the release of his fifth album: “This is not just an album, this is a music therapy album. For several years now I have been doing chamber concerts in the format of music therapy and, as a result, a new album, completely different from the previous ones, has appeared. Recently, we turned to the state institutions of Ukraine with a request to investigate the influence of my music on the human condition. "

In fact, the technique of music therapy has long been used in other countries: as a way to get rid of stress and fatigue, and even as a part of therapy for serious illnesses.

Music has been shown to have a positive effect on brain function, increasing the speed of communication between the right and left hemispheres, and enhancing its performance. This is why many people work much better with their favorite songs. One way or another, a person is musical by nature. Babies begin to understand the rhythm and melodic pattern of speech before they learn to isolate individual words from the general flow and understand them. Scientists have long figured out what a huge impact music has on water, and we, as everyone knows, are 70% water.

“Also with this music album I want to tell you that I am one of the approximately 7 billion people living at this time on our planet Earth. This is my subjective vision of the world in this historical period of time through the prism of 88 black and white keys of a grand piano and other musical instruments such as violin, viola, cello, hang, guitar, duduk and accordion. By creating this album I live in 2020. I live! I breathe! My heart is beating! I am 32 years old. Over the past few years, an incredible wife, son and beautiful daughter have appeared in my life, who have inspired me to this musical story. There is also a composition that I wrote with my then two-year-old son. And it seems to me that music is a direct proof that there is something above us. Something immensely large, unattainable and at the same time very close. After all, each melody is not a thought process - or the fruit of mental activity, but a stream that I simply heard and transferred to this recording. I really hope and believe that someone will be able to hear themselves in this music, to experience real feelings and emotions that the Lord God has endowed us with. And I know for sure that music is a conductor between the past and the future, between people of different faiths and nationalities. Music is a power that can heal, unite and open the hidden corners of our soul. "
