Men over 50 to be mobilized only for provision purposes – Kyiv’s Territorial Recruitment Centre

Ukrainian men aged 50 and over are considered suitable for military service in provision units, said Deputy Chief of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre in the city of Kyiv, Major Larysa Kozak.
Answering a question at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Tuesday, Kozak pointed out how the mobilization of citizens aged 50 and older is carried out. In accordance with the legislation of Ukraine, conscripted men aged 18-60 years old are subject to conscription, “except for the category under 25 years old, who have passed the basic military training, or have been recognized as partially suitable.”
“Regarding the citizens who are 50 years old and over, the procedure is the same. Citizens come and undergo a military medical commission, but according to our instructions and guidance documents, these citizens are considered fit to serve in the provision units,” Kozak said.
According to the major, she has not personally seen cases of appointing citizens of 50 and over “directly to combat positions.”
“That is, these are future drivers, logistics and rear workers,” the TCK employee added.
