Situation with head of BES detectives, corruption in general may affect trust of partners – Tuka

Ukraine's partners are expressing concern about cases of corruption in Ukraine during the war, businessman, volunteer, founder and head of the volunteer group and the People's Rear Charity Foundation, as well as the former head of Luhansk Regional Military administration Heorhiy Tuka said.

"This has happened more than once, when the Americans have already publicly, and Blinken publicly stated this (corruption, including the BES activities), and Sullivan publicly stated this, and Biden publicly stated this," he said at a press conference titled "Rebooting BES: why is this important" at Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

According to Tuka, the Americans are convinced that the administration, including the new White House administration, knows about certain "corruption outrages" within the current government, and this knowledge will be used to pressure President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to agree to certain conditions that will be proposed as part of the peace talks.

According to Tuka, the situation with corruption in the BES is only a small part of a huge government system. He added that the cases with Medvedchuk and Rabinovich add confidence that people have been cooperating with the Russian special services for years.

"As for the trust of our partners, I'm sorry, but it's too late to talk about this," he believes.

As reported, at the conference on Monday, Tuka also raised the issue of Head of the BES detectives Oleksandr Tkachuk, who is involved in a number of scandals, but remains an official. He also called on law enforcement agencies to respond to numerous cases of corruption in BES, and especially to Tkachuk.
