According to preliminary data, DTEK Energy invested approximately UAH 11 billion in the restoration of thermal power plants and the operation of mines in 2024, the DTEK energy holding reported.

"We are directing all possible and available resources so that thermal generation and the Ukrainian energy system can operate stably in the face of enemy attacks. To this end, last year we invested approximately UAH 11 billion of our own funds in thermal power plants and mines. We will mobilize all available opportunities to strengthen the energy front in the future," commented DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.

DTEK Energy specified that investments in repairs and restoration of thermal power plants amounted to more than UAH 3 billion, and this made it possible to restore more than half of the thermal power plant capacities destroyed as a result of Russian attacks in the spring-summer of 2024 on the eve of the current winter.

However, as the company notes, massive attacks in November-December last year resulted in new serious destruction and damage to capacities, the restoration of which power engineers and repairmen continue to work non-stop.

The company's investments in Ukrainian coal mining amounted to about UAH 7.5 billion and were aimed at the construction and repair of capital mine workings, the completion of coal faces, equipping mines with tunneling equipment, underground mine transport and projects to support production capacities.

Thanks to the efforts of miners and investments, it was possible to maintain the fuel reserves necessary for the needs of thermal generation throughout the year, DTEK Energy noted.

As reported, DTEK Energy provides a closed cycle of electricity production from coal. The installed capacity in thermal power generation as of January 2022 was 13.3 GW. A full production cycle has been created in coal mining: coal mining and enrichment, mechanical engineering and maintenance of mining equipment.
