Albanian PM: Ukraine deserves support to resist Russia and to be sure that post-war peace be just peace

Ukraine deserves support in all possible ways to resist Russian aggression and ensure that any peace that comes after the war will be a just peace, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said.

"We see with concern that its [Ukrainian] support is sometimes suspended because of Ukraine becoming an issue of a domestic politics of one country or the other, or because of very long bureaucratic delays... On the other side, it is an aggressor that does not stop for a second in hitting and in trying to grab more territories, by taking lives of innocent people and continuing to destroy Ukraine," he said at a press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Tirana.

At the same time, the Prime Minister of Albania called cynical and absurd the statements of European politicians who claim that the transfer of weapons to Ukraine contributes to the war.

"Of course, we also hear that many people all of Europe that helping Ukrainians, supporting Ukraine, giving to Ukraine the means to defend its nation and its country and it is what perpetuating the war. They claim that stopping to give weapons will bring peace. This is not only cynical, but it is absurd, because you don't stop fight by disarming a victim. You will stop war by stopping the aggressor. That's why I want to tell everyone that can listen that Ukraine deserves to be supported and to be helped with all the means necessary to resist and to make sure that every peace, that will come out of this war is a just peace. A just peace is based on the ten principles of President Zelenskyy's ten-point plan, that we support and we want to see it will be discussed by all world community," he said.

Edi Rama said not only the government, parliament or institutions of Albania, but the entire nation, all the people remain with Ukraine, support it steadfastly. And they will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary until a just peace comes.

"I don't have but admiration for President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine, that very impressively fighting against a ruthless aggressor, and on the other side, working to reform and to progress in the process to EU integration. We can't be privilege and honor to be friends with the Ukrainian nation and feel closer to these people, and to represent our future," he said.

"Albania will always be your home and one of those places where every fellow citizens can feel at home. We look forward to strengthen our collaboration, we look forward identify together and we look forward to be with Ukrainian people on the day when Ukraine will breathe freely and enjoy peace and sleep without air raid alarms," the Albanian Prime Minister said.
