Farion fired from Lviv Polytechnic for statements on military
Former MP of Ukraine of the sixth convocation from the Svoboda party Iryna Farion was fired on Wednesday from her position as a teacher at Lviv Polytechnic University for her statements regarding Ukrainian military personnel, Education Minister Oksen Lisovy said.
"Lviv Polytechnic fired Farion. The corresponding order has already been signed by the rector... The position of the ministry remains unchanged – people who do not share the values of dignity and do not have respect for soldiers have no place in the education system," he said on Facebook.
Lisovy expressed hope that the SBU, within the framework of open criminal proceedings, will give a fair assessment of the statements and actions of the former teacher of Lviv Polytechnic University.
According to him, Ukraine "continues to get rid of the shadows of the Soviet past and in the education system in particular."
"It was with students that the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine began, which finally secured us on the European integration path. Starting in 2014, thousands of students changed classrooms to trenches and went to defend their state, their families and their values. This period in the history of Ukraine became a point of no return and launched an active process of de-Sovietization, the time for which has long come," the head of the Ministry of Education said.
"I thank each and everyone for their caring, ability to uphold and defend their values. This is a fantastic trait of Ukrainians – students and youth," he said.
As reported, SBU has launched criminal proceedings and has already ordered a number of examinations on the statements and publications of former MP Farion.
