President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in a meeting of foreign ministers of the European Union member states held in Kyiv, the press service of the President's Office reported on Monday.

"The Head of the Ukrainian State noted in his speech that today's visiting meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the EU countries is not only a significant manifestation of solidarity with Ukraine, but also a new step towards strengthening Europe, giving it leadership and initiative. We constantly need new defense and diplomatic, political and integration, economic and sanctions steps that will make our common positions stronger. The more active we are, our leadership, our initiatives, the less chances Russia will have to adapt to our common pressure," Zelenskyy said.

Among such important steps to be taken, the President of Ukraine called: firstly, activity in defense support of Ukraine and protection of life (supply of weapons, shells, expanding the range of training of Ukrainian soldiers and increasing joint production capacities of the defense industry); secondly, attracting as many world leaders and states as possible to implement the Peace Formula; and thirdly, the accession of seven more states of the European Community to security guarantees for Ukraine on the way to NATO.

Zelenskyy also mentioned the intensification of work on the new EU sanctions package against Russia and the expansion of sanctions against Iran; as well as the beginning of negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU this year, the approval by EU institutions of a financial instrument for Ukraine – Ukraine Facility, as well as the acceleration of work in the European Union on the direction of frozen Russian assets to finance the restoration of damage in Ukraine a war of destruction.

"I am sure that Ukraine and the whole free world are capable of winning this confrontation. But our victory directly depends on our cooperation with you: the more strong and principled steps we take, the sooner this war will end. It will end fairly. Restoration of our territorial integrity and reliable guarantee of peace for the whole of Europe," the President summed up.
