New public defender of Viktor Yanukovych, Yuriy Riabovol, who was appointed on August 2 instead of public defender Viktor Ovsiannikov, who refused to participate in meetings in protest, is familiarizing with the case materials about the former president's state treason without restrictions.

"On August 2, the Center for the provision of free secondary legal aid canceled the assignment to defense counsel Viktor Ovsiannikov and appointed new defender Yuriy Riabovol. The lawyer is familiarizing with the case materials daily, without any restrictions," press secretary of Kyiv's Obolonsky district court Inna Svynarenko told Interfax-Ukraine.

She stressed that the court had granted all the volumes of the criminal case to Viktor Yanukovych's new public defender. "The defender is getting acquainted with them. He has not sent any requests or claims to the court yet," Svynarenko said.

The next meeting of the Obolonsky Court on the state treason of Viktor Yanukovych is to be held on August 16.
