Police announce search for one of suspects in beating MP Nayyem

The Shevchenkivsky police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv has announced the search for Magomed-Amin Saitov, one of the suspects in the attack on Ukrainian MP Mustafa Nayyem in the center of Kyiv.

Relevant data without a photo have been posted on the website of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine under the heading "Search" (persons who are hiding from authorities).

According to the information about the wanted person, Magomed-Amin Abubakarovich Saitov, born 1989, has been hiding from the pre-trial investigation agencies since May 1, 2018, after he vanished from Kyiv.

He is suspected under part 2 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism carried out by a group of persons) and part 1 of Article 122 (intentional bodily injury of moderate severity). A preventive measure against him haven't been selected yet.

As reported, Nayyem was attacked by unidentified individuals as a result of a road conflict in the center of Kyiv on Monday, April 30, and is currently in hospital.

The main directorate of the National Police in Kyiv first qualified the event, during which Nayyem was injured, as hooliganism. Three active participants of the incident were taken to the police department, and one more is being searched.

Later Kyiv police opened a criminal proceeding under the article dealing with inflicting deliberate moderate bodily injury of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Part 1, Article 122).

On May 1, Kyiv local prosecutor's office No. 10 announced suspicions to people involved in beating Nayyem. "Three of the participants in the conflict involved in the attack on the deputy were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine: men of 1999 and 1996. Two of them have Russian citizenship and are on the territory of Ukraine on the basis of temporary residence certificates, another is a citizen of Ukraine," the press service of the prosecutor's office in Kyiv said.

In addition, another person who directly struck the lawmaker in the face was announced the suspicion in absentia, causing the latter injuries of moderate severity.

Nayyem said on Tuesday evening that one of the road hooligans who participated in the attack on him had managed to leave Ukraine and flown out to Baku.
