All miners of Stepova coalmine raised to surface

All the miners of mine No. 10 Stepova run by OJSC Lvivvuhillia in Lviv region, where there was an explosion and rock collapse, have been brought to the surface, according to the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations.

"As of 15:30, all the miners were brought to the surface. Five branches of the State Paramilitary Mountain Rescue Service of the Coal and Energy Ministry are involved in the rescue operations," the emergency service's press office reported on Thursday.

A total of 50 people, seven units of equipment are working at the site, including 20 people and six pieces of equipment from the Emergency Situations Service.

Head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine, Mikhailo Volynets on his Facebook page wrote that the methane explosion killed eight miners and nine were very seriously injured. All miners have been brought to the surface.

It was reported earlier eight miners were killed in the rock collapse a result of an explosion at the Stepova coalmine of the Lvivvuhillia company in the village of Hlukhiv, Sokal district, Lviv region at 12.46 p.m. on March 2. All in all, there were 172 miners working in the mine at the moment of explosion.
