Poroshenko, Erdogan confer on strategic partnership issues

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.

"The two chiefs of state discussed progress in implementation of the agreements reached at the fifth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council between Ukraine and Turkey, including trade liberalization," the Ukrainian presidential press service said in a report.

The sides pointed to the busy bilateral agenda and confirmed their aspiration for deepening strategic partnership, the report said.

Poroshenko offered Turkish companies to participate in privatization of Ukrainian enterprises.

The sides agreed on the soonest meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish energy working group, the report said.

Erdogan said that Turkey would continue to support restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity "both in the bilateral and multilateral dimensions," the report said.
