Militants attack Mariupol area for provocation purposes

Militants open fire on the outskirts of the populated areas of Pavlopil and Shyrokyne using weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, the press center of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) has reported.

Militants are opening fire to provoke a return of fire from the ATO forces, a report posted by the ATO press center on Facebook says. Kyiv believes all these things are being done "to disrupt the elections to the Mariupol local authorities and to collect evidence of breaches by Ukraine of the Minsk agreements before the next session of the three-party Contact Group in Minsk."

The enemy is opening fire using "120mm and 82mm mortars prohibited by the Minsk agreements, and also grenade launchers, large-caliber machine-guns and firearms," the report says.

Kyiv also said the activity of the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance groups has increased on the Mariupol track.

According to earlier reports, all sub-groups on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas will meet in Minsk on November 24. The meeting of the Contact Group will take place in the format of a video conference.
