Verkhovna Rada to consider at next plenary session government bill on renouncing Ukraine's non-aligned status

The Verkhovna Rada at the next plenary session will consider a government bill on renouncing Ukraine's non-aligned status, which was registered at the Verkhovna Rada on August 29.

"The relative bill, No. 4561 'On amendments to the legislation of Ukraine on guaranteeing the sovereignty and protection of the territorial integrity of Ukraine,' which foresees renouncing the non-aligned status of the country, was submitted to the parliament by the Cabinet of Ministers on August 29, 2014 and will be considered at the next parliamentary sitting of the Verkhovna Rada," the parliament's press service said on Thursday.

According to the timetable, the next plenary session of Verkhovna Rada will be held on October 14.

As earlier reported, on Thursday Poroshenko ordered "the Cabinet of Ministers to elaborate and submit to the president a bill on amendments into Ukrainian legislation on Ukraine's renouncing of non-aligned status of the country for the Verkhovna Rada immediately consider it."

As reported, on September 3, the Cabinet of Ministers said on its Web site that it expects Verkhovna Rada will approve a bill on renouncing the Ukrainian state's non-aligned status and resuming Ukraine's course toward NATO membership by the end of September 2014.
