The government of Ukraine plans to initiate a rise in the general level of social standards by equalizing salaries in the industrial and social spheres, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has said.

"It is necessary to do the following: to raise standards not for everyone, but to raise salaries, and then the standards when we will reach a better level, when everyone will have more or less equal salary in both the industrial and social spheres. Then we will raise minimal standards," she said on Thursday at a meeting with schools directors at the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to her, the government plans to achieve a rise in salaries in the spheres of education, health and culture.
