No military personnel were hurt in An-12 crash - Defense Ministry

No servicemen were hurt in the An-12 plane crash near Irkutsk, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"According to information received from the accident site, the crash of the transport plane near Irkutsk damaged the upper parts of two warehouses. There are no casualties among the military and the civilian personnel of the warehouses," an official form the Defense Ministry's press service and information department told reporters on Thursday.

"There is no fire at the crash site. The damage is being determined," the source said.

"The warehouses damaged by the crash contained aircraft parts," the source said.

"There are no casualties among our military personnel. The damage done to the two warehouses is not serious physical damage, either," Central Military District official Yaroslav Roshchupkin told Interfax.

There was no ammunition in the warehouses, there were mobile workshops and equipment parts, he said.

According to the Emergency Situations Ministry, the crash killed nine people.

A source in the defense structures of the Irkutsk region told Interfax that the plane was carrying six crewmembers and three aircraft factory mechanics.

"No one had a chance to survive," the source told Interfax.
