Police are considering a number of versions of the attack on journalist and activist Tetiana Chornovol, and they include her professional activity, a road accident and a possible provocation by certain individuals, Deputy Chief of the Main Investigation Department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Oleh Tatarov has said.

"Investigators are considering several versions of the crime. We are not rejecting the version related to Tetiana Chornovol's professional activity, and I would like to note that the version about possible provocations on the part of certain individuals is also being worked out," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He also said that there are several more versions regarding this crime, but he declined to name them.

Tatarov deplored the fact that some politicians had intervened in the investigation into this case.

"Unfortunately, there was no objectivity, as some politicians who were present at the scene of a criminal offense intervened in the activity of law enforcement agencies, which is illegal and subject to the elements of a criminal offense," he said.

Tatarov also said that the Interior Ministry has information that Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk had passed footage from the camera of Chornovol's car to the Prosecutor General's Office.

"The video recorder should be passed to investigators, as we should objectively study the information and assign certain examinations that will help us clearly say that there was no editing and external intervention," he said.
