An elderly man has died on the roof of the Globus shopping center near Ukraine Hotel, which is located near Independence Square in Kyiv, Channel 5 reported on Friday.

On-duty pro-EU demonstrators rallying in the central square of the capital found a man lying on the pavement, "choked with blood." An ambulance was immediately called, but the doctors who arrived at the scene said that the man had already died.

According to eyewitnesses, there are traces of blood on the place where the body laid, and the man may have sustained a traumatic brain injury.

"Law enforcement officers preliminarily recorded a traumatic brain injury, probably from a fall from a height," reads the statement.

One of the eyewitnesses also said that there had been a car not far from the scene, which moved off as soon as the demonstrators ran up to the dead man.

The media liaisons department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main office in Kyiv confirmed reports that the body of a man with no visible signs of a violent death had been found.
