Ukrainian Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Leonid Kozhara has noted positive dynamics in talks on the Transdniestrian settlement in the 5+2 format during the period of Ukraine's chairmanship of the OSCE.

"The main result of our work is, we believe, maintaining the positive dynamics of the negotiation process in the 5+2 format, its constructive nature, as well as concrete decisions made in the interests of people on both sides of the Dniester," he said, while opening another round of talks on the Transdniestrian settlement in the 5+2 format in Kyiv on Monday.

Kozhara said that important decisions were made on the joint actions of the two parties in the field of railway transport, the environment, the disposal of radioactive materials, and other areas.

He also noted one of the important results of the negotiations over the last year was to establish direct dialog between the leaders of Chisinau and Tiraspol.

"In the official negotiation process we have not managed to switch to discussing settlement issues of the so-called third basket of the agenda," he said.

However, Kozhara said he was satisfied with the fact that discussions on these issues were conducted in different formats throughout the year.
