5+2 talks formula best way to settle Transdniestrian conflict, says Kozhara

According to Ukraine, the talks in 5+2 format are the best way to resolve the Transdniestrian conflict, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara has said.

"The main conclusion, in our opinion, is that progress in small but regular steps is the most efficient way to settle the conflict," he said opening the next stage of the talks concerning Transdniestrian settlement in Kyiv on Monday.

According to the foreign minister, all obstacles in the way should be eliminated by joint efforts, including through an effective dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol.

"We consider it of the utmost importance that the dialogue between the two banks of Dniester be regular, as well as to be widened using parliamentary and public formats," Kozhara said.

He added that agenda of these talks contains settlement of the issues of freedom of movement, stirring up cooperation of law enforcement agencies, economic and humanitarian cooperation.

"Ukraine says that the talk process in the form of 5+2 is the main tool to settle this conflict," Kozhara said.

He wished Switzerland and Serbia, which will preside of OSCE in 2014, success in settling this conflict, and assured that Ukraine would help in every possible way.
