Azarov: Limited number of norms on FTA with EU will come into force in 2014

The next year will be a transition period for Ukraine, during which a limited number of norms foreseen in the agreement on a free trade area (FTA) with the European Union will come into force, Ukraine Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
According to the press service of the Ukrainian government, the prime minister said this in the Shuster Live program.
"After signing the agreement on a free trade area with the EU a transition period will start, during which certain provisions of the free trade area agreement will gradually come into force," the head of the government said.
Azarov explained that not all the norms with the EU would be fulfilled at once.
"We are not ready for this and asked to postpone certain provisions," he said.
The premier noted that the Ukrainian produce of many industries, such as confectionery, meat and milk, clothing, must comply with the requirements of the European Union. And these are serious measures to modernize production, which requires time.
"Therefore the year of 2014 will be the first year, during which only a limited number of norms will come into force," said the official.
