German doctors from the Charite clinic failed to arrive at the Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 (Kharkiv) on Monday morning, where they were expected to participate in an international medical commission to examine former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

"On February 25, an international medical commission with the participation of doctors from the Health Ministry of Ukraine and of Berlin-based Charite clinic was to start examination of convict Tymoshenko at Ukrzaliznytsia's Central Clinical Hospital. However, despite the readiness of Ukrainian members of the commission, the German doctors had not yet arrived in Kharkiv as of 1000," the press service of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported.

The press service said that the German side was officially informed through the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine that the work of this commission would be supported.

The penitentiary service said the prison authorities placed no obstacles to the medical examination of Tymoshenko, which was clear from the fact that there were no problems in the organization of all of the previous visits of the German doctors.

"The claims of the Batkivschyna political force are untrue and are another attempt to discredit the prison authorities and explain the absence of the German doctors," the press service said.

Earlier, the press service of the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union said the German doctors from the Charite clinic have not yet received from Kyiv any official information about their obtaining permission to visit Tymoshenko, or a date for the visit.
