The single national information and educational portal will be launched in 2013 as a part of National Project Open World, National Project Head Arsen Popel has said during a presentation of the project's plans for 2013.

Some 54 schools from all the regions of Ukraine will take part in the pilot version of the project.

Popel said that schools were selected using two key criteria: the preparedness of teachers and the availability of Internet access.

Multimedia and laboratory complexes, teacher and student devices and network equipment will be supplied to schools as part of the project.

He said that in the near term a tender to select a supplier of equipment for schools and a tender for designing the educational portal will be announced.

As reported, representatives of the State Agency for Investment and National Projects as a part of the visit to the Silicon Valley (the United States) have agreed with the largest U.S. IT corporation – Intel – on joint work over the national project Open World.

The representatives invited representatives of Intel to enter the supervisory board of Open World Company.

OPEN World foresees the creation of a 4G national information and communications network, which will be first used for education at schools. The state plans to transfer all of the educational materials for students in the digital form, and access to the materials will be provided via the 4G network using netbooks.
