FC Karpaty may invest UAH 609 m in construction of Euro 2012 stadium in Lviv

The Karpaty football club may invest UAH 609 million in the construction of a stadium in Lviv ahead of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

These plans are foreseen in a memorandum of intent and joint actions on the creation of the Karpaty national football club, which was signed by Lviv Regional Governor Mykola Kmit, Lviv Regional Council Head Myroslav Senyk, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy and FC Karpaty Honorary President Petro Dymynsky in the presence of journalists on Wednesday.

According to the document, the parties are planning to take a number of measures needed to form the club and send respective assets to its statutory fund. The club is to send UAH 609 million that will be spent on the construction of the stadium.

The city council and the city regional council should, in turn, take decisions on the transfer of a number of land plots and property objects to the statutory fund.

For the city council, the issue concerns the transfer of three land plots with a total area of 21 hectares, the buildings of the Lviv Hotel and the Grand Hotel to the club, as well as the non-residential premises at Mickiewicz Street currently being used by the club.

The regional council should decide on the transfer to the club of a former 11-hectare military camp in Stryi district, as well as two facilities in downtown Lviv.
