France will use EUR 300 million in 2024 to purchase weapons for Ukraine, part of EUR 1.4 billion in revenues from frozen Russian assets allocated by the European Union, the French Defense Ministry reported.

"The European Commission has agreed with the French Procurement Agency that it will use these funds to quickly acquire priority equipment for Ukraine from the French industry, ammunition, artillery and anti-aircraft equipment of the French industry for a total of EUR 300 million for 2024," the ministry said in a communiqué published on Friday.

Earlier, EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell said that the EU had already begun to transfer revenues from frozen Russian assets to the Ukrainian side and the bloc's countries that will supply weapons to Kyiv.
