War veterans should be employed in public service – Porkhun

Acting Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Porkhun says it is important to provide war veterans with education, retraining opportunities, and employ them in the public service.

"We understand that it is necessary to engage war veterans in the public service. We have a working group chaired by Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov which brings together all central executive agencies involved in retraining and employment of veterans. This issue has been raised at a high level. The National Agency on Civil Service is finalizing its proposals on the improvement of conditions for war veterans to work in public service," he said in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency.

As reported, Head of the National Agency on Civil Service Natalia Aliushyna said that in the future, veterans with equal qualifications should have an advantage in employment in the public service.

Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleh Nemchinov, for his part, said it is necessary to attract veterans to the public service, but there is no point in introducing preferences when participating in competitions.
