Meest China returns to pre-war levels, strengthening its position – shareholder

Meest China, part of the postal and logistics group of companies Meest, six months after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, returned to the pre-war level and is strengthening its position, Meest China shareholder Viacheslav Lysenko said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He explained that this was partly facilitated by the enthusiasm with which the employees got involved in their work, and partly by the exit of a number of large foreign companies from the Ukrainian market, in particular DHL, FedEx, whose clients went to existing Ukrainian players, including the Meest group.

"Yes, we returned to the pre-war level. And this happened about six months after the start of the full-scale invasion. What else helped? Many large companies left the market (in particular, DHL and FedEx stopped cooperation with Ukraine). And their clients switched to us," Lysenko said.

At the same time, according to him, the cost of an average purchase from Ukraine on marketplaces in China has fallen in price.

"Previously, the average purchase from Ukraine on marketplaces was around $48, now this amount has dropped to $22. This, of course, indicates deterioration in the income of Ukrainians. People have become poorer and buy only the most necessary things. Although they buy more, and we see an increase in volume, but a decrease in monetary terms," the Meest China shareholder said.

The postal and logistics operator Meest has been operating in the postal services market for more than 30 years. It was founded by Rostyslav Kisil, who is its beneficiary and is responsible for the strategic direction.

Meest has its own infrastructure in more than 20 countries and delivers parcels to 95 countries. The group includes divisions Meest China, Meest USA, Meest Europe and Meest Ukraine.

Meest China has been a leader in the delivery of postal parcels from China for more than 15 years. The company also delivers large cargo from China with customs clearance. It has its own warehouse with an area of 5,000 square meters in Guangzhou.
