Ukraine's Health Ministry seeks to adapt the ProZorro e-procurement system to medicine procurement using budget funds, acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun has said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"Procurement will be through the ProZorro system, as other public procurement is done. Medicine procurement has its own specifics. For example, medicines have doses and ProZorro does not foresee it now. Specialists of the system are working on making a possibility of procuring medicines through the system," she said.

Suprun said that procurement in the healthcare sector will be carried out via the national procurement organization starting from 2019. Health Ministry is working on the creation of the organization with support of international procurement organizations.

"Our task is to launch right procedures at the national procurement organization, as it happens at international organizations. It is aimed at not having problems with corruption, having open tenders and technical tasks written not in a corrupted way and having access for everyone," she said.

She said that the national organization will be able to procure medicines not only under public procurement procedures, but also for all regions.
