Abromavicius urges new government to carry out deregulation, privatization, remove corruption

Former Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius has urged the new government to carry out deregulation of business and transparent privatization, develop exports and remove corruption from state-run enterprises.

"I call on the new team of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the new government to do their best to quicken the introduction of reforms – both those that we have started and those that are to be started," he said in a statement posted on the official website of the ministry on Friday.

The former minister believes that 42 bills are to be urgently passed. They concern deregulation. Twelve more bills on improvement of business climate are expected to pass the parliament.

Abromavicius thanked the ministry's team for self-sacrificing attitude, fidelity to principles, professionalism and decency.

"I hope that the new government will give jobs to progressive people focused on reforms and I will support these civil servants as much as I can," the former minister said.
