Ukraine not to limit transit shipments in response to Russian actions– Abromavicius

Ukraine is not going to introduce limitations on transit goods shipments from Russia to European or other countries via its territory, Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius has said.

"As for limitations on transit supplies, unlike our northern neighbors, this is of course not the way we will act – we're not going to limit [transit shipments] to third countries. We won't restrict any commodities on their way to the EU and other countries in Europe or from those countries to Russia or other countries," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

As was reported, after Russia introduced limitations on transit shipments of Ukrainian goods via its territory from the beginning of 2016, Ukrainian Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister and Ukraine's Trade Representative Nataliya Mykolska said that Ukraine would hold consultations with the European Union as for the possibility of taking countermeasures.

Mykolska noted that Ukraine would not leave Russia's restrictions on the Ukrainian goods without response. "We will turn to the WTO," she said.
