Yatseniuk: UAH 32 bln on Ukraine's treasury account
A total of UAH 32 billion is on Ukraine's treasury account, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said on the 1+1 television channel late on Sunday.
"A year ago when I started running the post of prime minister, along with rats we had UAH 108,000. Nothing. Today we have UAH 32 billion on the treasury account… UAH 32 billion is the largest sum since 2005," Yatseniuk said.
He said that the funds have been accumulated thanks to changes made to the tax system and fight against corruption.
"The basis of the funds is financing of army, salaries and pensions, financing of subsidies for Ukrainian citizens," the premier said.
The State Treasury Service of Ukraine earlier said that ending stocks in the single treasury account at the beginning of April 2015 amounted to UAH 26.67 billion, 6.3 times more than in early April 2014.
The service said that the government has not had such large ending stocks since December 2005, when it received funds for the sale of Kryvorizhstal.
