Energoatom, Rosenergoatom sign memorandum to improve reliability of nuclear fuel

State enterprise Energoatom has signed a new five-sided memorandum on joint actions to achieve a zero failure rate of nuclear fuel, a new member of which became Russia's Rosenergoatom.

The press service of Energoatom noted that the project participants, in addition to the Ukrainian company, are OAO TVEL (Russia), Kozloduy NPP (Bulgaria), and CEZ (the Czech Republic).

According to the report, President of Energoatom Yuriy Nedashkovsky praised Rosenergoatom's joining the memorandum, noting the constant readiness of the Ukrainian side for an open and transparent cooperation to improve the efficiency of the country's nuclear power plants.

"The participants in the meeting stressed the high level of mutual trust and noted significant prospects in the project implementation," reads a statement.

The "zero failure" international project is aimed at analyzing the processes of designing, manufacturing and operating nuclear fuel for the development and implementation of measures taken to identify and remove reasons for failure of nuclear fuel for VVER-1000 reactors.

Rosenergoatom manages all operating nuclear power plants in Russia, it is part of Rosatom state corporation.
