Biometric passports will cost 50% less than current passports, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko has stated.

''In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers that the production of biometric passports will occur at the Ukraina state printing plant, the cost of passports will be reduced by 40-50%," Petrenko told journalists during a visit to the Center of Administrative Services in Kyiv.

He added that the full-scale issuing of biometric passports is to start from the beginning of next year, and all intermediaries for the production of passports have been already eliminated.

Earlier, the Supreme Court ruled that the production of a foreign passport costs UAH 170 (state duty, which includes application forms and services).
