Roshen products will return to Russian market after manufacturer resolves quality problems - Onishchenko

The return of confectionaries of Ukraine's Roshen company to Russia depends on how fast the producer adjusts the quality of its output to Russian requirements, aide to the Russian prime minister Gennady Onishchenko has said.

"As soon as they restore order, then everything will come back. There is one barrier - low-quality products will not be allowed in," he told journalists on Monday answering a question from Interfax about the prospects of the return of Roshen confectionary products to Russia.

Onishchenko said that the same applies to the prospects of the return of Moldovan wines to Russia. Here also everything boils down to quality, he said.

"The question should be addressed to the Moldovans," Onishchenko, the former chief sanitation officer in Russia, said.

Last July the Russian sanitation authority banned imports of chocolates and candies produced at four Roshen factories in Ukraine over quality problems.

Imports of Moldovan wine to Russia were suspended on September 10 over questions concerning the quality of individual batches of wine.
