First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov has promised to solve the problem of supplies of Ukrainian confectionaries to Belarus.

"We're planning a meeting, an intergovernmental commission will work. Next week I will sum up all issues to discuss them with the government of Belarus," he told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Arbuzov said he would call a meeting with businessmen and manufacturers to discuss the situation in a week.

As reported, exports of all kinds of Ukrainian confectionary goods to Belarus has been suspended by the latter's customs service since early April 2013.

According to President of the Ukrkondprom Association Oleksandr Baldyniuk, Ukrainian confectionery products are undergoing reinforced customs controls, which delays goods at the customs points for up to 20 days, with the possibility of an even longer term. He noted that Ukraine annually exports confectionary goods worth UAH 500 million to Belarus.

He stressed that Ukrainian confectionaries are losing UAH 40-50 million monthly due to the export problems.
