Cabinet creates coordination council for the realization of affordable housing program in regions

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has created a coordination council for the realization of a affordable housing construction program in the regions as an advisory body of the cabinet, reads a posting on the Web site of the cabinet, referring to a cabinet resolution of January 21, 2013.

The report says that the vice premier will head the council and approve its members.

Among key tasks of the council is the promotion of the coordination of the operation of executive power bodies for the realization of the affordable housing construction program in the regions.

The council will define ways and mechanisms for settling problematic issues that appear during the realization of the affordable housing construction program in the regions, draw up proposals to increase the effectiveness of the implementation of the corresponding programs, and improve the legal base on these issues.

The Regional Development, Construction, Utilities and Housing Economy Ministry of Ukraine ensures the organizational, information, material and technical provision of the council.

According to the Regional Development, Construction, Utilities and Housing Economy Ministry, 1,222 apartments with gross area of 83,200 square meters were bought in 2012 under the affordable housing program in Ukraine. The state supported citizens in the purchase of apartments. The aid amounted to UAH 156.6 million. Investment of citizens sent to the construction of affordable housing came to over UAH 335 million.
