Director General of FC Shakhtar Donetsk Serhiy Palkin has said that the club's president, Rinat Akhmetov, and manager Mircea Lucescu will definitely discuss the issue of extending the Romanian coach's contract with the Ukrainian champions, but such a conversation has not yet been held.

"Lucescu's contract expires at the end of this June. I think that there will definitely be a conversation between the club's president, Rinat Akhmetov, and Mircea Lucescu, during which they will determine all positions. [But] such a conversation has not yet been held," he told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

The subject of Lucescu's possible withdrawal from Shakhtar after the expiration of the contract with the club has recently been discussed in the media. According to the Western media, Inter Milan, France's PSG and Anji Makhachkala see the Romanian manager as a potential coach.

Lucescu said that he is currently focusing on working with Shakhtar and the task of winning the championship and the Ukrainian Cup.

"My contract with Shakhtar lasts until the end of the championship, which we're going to win. I and my team are fully concentrated on this task, as well as on the desire to win the Cup once again. My contract expires in three months. What's next? Let's wait and see," he said in an interview with the Sport-Express in Ukraine newspaper on Thursday.

He said that he was ready to talk with the club's president. He also said that his relationship with Shakhtar's owner "is not regulated by the formalities connected with the contract."
