KYIV. Oct 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The majority of Ukrainian citizens consider it necessary to have a minimum of knowledge about the political system and politics in order to effectively use their constitutional rights and freedoms, and agree that the state must guarantee the opportunity to obtain this knowledge.

This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from September 21 to September 27, 2023 as part of the USAID/ENGAGE activity, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine, presented at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

According to the survey results, 82.4% of respondents "agree" and "rather agree" with the need to have knowledge about politics. Only 11.2% of respondents are inclined to the opposite opinion. Some 6.4% found it difficult to answer.

At the same time, 65.7% of respondents believe that in Ukraine there is no comprehensive system of political education that would include the adult population. Some 16.8% of respondents hold the opposite opinion. Some 17.4% of citizens found it difficult to answer.

Some 30.8% of respondents are ready to take part in free political education programs for citizens. Some 21.9% chose the answer "maybe, not sure." Some 35.9% are not ready to participate in such programs. Some 11.4% found it difficult to answer.

The majority of citizens (74.9%) believe that in modern conditions in Ukraine, military-patriotic education should be a mandatory component of civil education. Some 11.4% of respondents do not share this opinion, and 13.7% found it difficult to answer. Some 73.6% of respondents believe that veterans of the war against the Russian aggressor should be involved in the organization and implementation of programs, projects and events on civic education. Some 10.9% disagree with this, and 15.5% found it difficult to answer.

The face-to-face survey was conducted in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy , Chernihiv, Chernivtsi regions and the city of Kyiv (in Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions - only in those territories controlled by the Ukrainian government and in which hostilities are not ongoing).

Some 2,016 respondents aged 18 years and over were surveyed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3.
