Construction Company Ukrbud resumes work, intends to be renamed

By January 1, 2024, state-owned joint-stock company Construction Company Ukrbud plans to approve a five-year development strategy and change its name, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrbud Viktor Leschynsky said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

"The name has been decided, but we will be able to announce it after it has been approved [by the State Property Fund]. Also, the company will necessarily apply for trademark registration in the areas we are engaged in, to make its use in the private sector impossible [as it happened with companies connected with Mykytas]," Leschynsky said.

As reported, in January 2023, the State Property Fund of Ukraine received the Ukrbud company in its management as an asset not subject to privatization.

"The company is active, now we are restoring the construction direction. We already have six winning tenders in our portfolio. These are objects of social and engineering infrastructure," Board Chairman of Ukrbud Andriy Illiyin said.

He said that, in addition to construction itself, training in labor specialties, including certification and re-certification, and the work of design institutes are important areas.

"On the basis of educational factories, qualification centers will be formed in each of the regions – Zaporizhia, Kryvy Rih, Odesa, Sumy and Dnipro. Design institutes within the company, unfortunately, were in decline. Now, a portfolio of orders is being formed. I traveled to the regions, communicated with structural divisions, we discussed plans for the development of the project direction," Illiyin said.

Also, the company's five-year strategic development plan has already been drawn up and presented to the governing body, the State Property Fund.

Leschynsky said that since the middle of the summer of this year, the company received a new board, management, which made it possible to start reforms.

"So far, the team has started to change positions and approaches to work. Our goal is to clean up the company's management mechanisms to remove all corruption risks so that work is transparent for all partners with whom we will work. We are ready to undergo any powerful audit. We would like to introduce modern technologies of project management and adjust the state of affairs so that trust in Ukrbud is at the highest level," Leschynsky said.

He said that the company must make a profit therefore, all areas of construction, design and training of relevant personnel for effective property management are being actively studied.

"In the near future, we should get an absolutely competitive state-owned construction operator on the market," he said.
