Ex-MP Muraev to be tried in Ukraine for subversive activities in Russia’s favor

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has completed an investigation into the head of the banned Nashi party, former MP Yevhen Muraev, who was involved in subversive activities in favor of the Russian Federation, the SBU reports.

In a message posted by the SBU on the Telegram channel on Tuesday, it is noted that the indictment against Muraev has been sent to court.

"The defendant used the Nashi TV channel controlled by him for the mass dissemination of Kremlin propaganda in Ukraine ... Thus, he assisted the aggressor in numerous attempts to destabilize the socio-political situation in Ukraine on the eve of a full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation," the message says.

The SBU clarifies that in early February 2022, NSDC sanctions were imposed on the specified TV channel.

The expertise initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of the defendant's anti-Ukrainian activities.

Based on the collected evidence, the ex-MP is accused under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 1 of Article 111 (high treason), Part 1 of Article 161 (violation of equal rights of citizens depending on their race, nationality, region, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds).

It is recalled that in the autumn of 2022, SBU officers conducted a series of searches at Muraev's place of residence and offices in Kyiv. During the investigation, cash in Russian rubles, weapons, as well as computer equipment and mobile phones were found at the addresses of the defendant.

The investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv city prosecutor's office.
