Zelensky about Bucha: This is war crime, it to be recognized by world as genocide

The actions of the Russian army in peaceful cities of Kyiv region will be recognized by the world community as genocide of the Ukrainian people, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is sure.

"This is a war crime and it will be recognized by the world as genocide. The fact that you are here today and see what happened – we know thousands of people are killed and tortured, with severed limbs, raped women, murdered children – I think this is genocide," Zelensky told reporters during a trip to the city of Bucha, Kyiv region.

He thanked the journalists of international publications who joined him on the trip.

"We really want you to show the world what happened here, what the Russian military did, what the Russian Federation did in peaceful Ukraine," the president stressed.

Zelensky also expressed confidence that all war criminals involved in the killings and abuse of civilians in the Ukrainian territories occupied by the Russian Federation will be held accountable.

"I think you and I cannot even consider the possibility that something will be missing this time in Europe or the world, missing to punish the criminals. I do not consider this option, we will not give a single percent to this. This is not the situation with certain alliances now, this is about life and the fact that people are killed, tortured. There is a million of evidence. Therefore, all these stories that let's wait, there will be a trial, it will be very slow – we will press as publicly as we can. We will not make any pauses in finding all the criminals. And you know that, in principle, this is beneficial, I believe, to civilization – because if we do not find a civilized way out, you know our people – they will find an uncivilized one," the head of state said.
