MP Yemets favors introducing visa regime with Russia

The issue of introducing a visa regime with the Russian Federation needs to be put to the vote of the parliament, Ukrainian parliamentarian Leonid Yemets (People's Front faction) has said.

"The introduction of a visa regime with Russia is part of our survival: as a state as a whole, and every citizen personally. Perhaps, this will not stop the professional killer, but will definitely facilitate his identification. Why do we refuse self-defense!? I think this issue should be put to the vote of the parliament…," Yemets wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

He stressed that "it is dementia at the level of high treason to have open borders with the enemy during the war."

In the evening of May 29, a Russian citizen, journalist Arkady Babchenko, who was working in Ukraine, was shot near his apartment in Kyiv's Dniprovsky District.

On this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder).

Head of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko said that the first obvious version of the murder is the professional activity of Babchenko.

The police have released a sketch of the shooter.
