Government reshuffling not to affect local self-government reform – minister

The reshuffling of the Ukrainian government will not affect local self-government reform and decentralization of power, Deputy Prime Minister – Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko has said.

"The concept of local self-government was approved in 2014. The government has been reshuffled twice since then, but we are sticking to the path. All laws, legal acts issued by the government and all amendments to Constitution in part of decentralization of power will be approved," Zubko said at a press conference in Kyiv last week.

He also said that there are 169 united territorial communities in Ukraine.

Commenting on the introduction of the prefect institution, they will appear after the Constitution is amended.

"We will be able to introduce prefect's offices, instead of the (offices of ) the administration," he said.
