Envoys of German chancellor and French president stress importance of coordination in implementing Minsk accords

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with the German chancellor's special envoy Christoph Heusgen and special envoy of the French president Jacques Audibert.

During the meeting, the sides noted the progress made by Ukraine in implementing the Minsk peace agreements and reiterated the importance of coordinating joint efforts in order to put these accords into practice in full, the Ukrainian leader's press service reported.

Among the key elements of this process, they mentioned "a sustainable ceasefire, the withdrawal of Russian troops and hardware, the restoration of Ukraine's control over the border and the release of hostages."

The sides also voiced their concern over numerous ceasefire breaches and situations that hamper the work of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe mission.

Poroshenko, for his part, thanked German and French representatives for the "highly important role" that they have been playing in the Donbas settlement process.
