Yatseniuk sure constitutional majority will be formed in parliament
A constitutional majority will be formed in parliament and it will have to assume responsibility for conducting reforms, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"Over the entire history of independence the Ukrainian people have for the first time given a pro-European, pro-Ukrainian constitutional mandate – a new parliamentary majority currently has 300 votes for the implementation of this coalition agreement and other provisions, first and foremost, the association and free trade agreement with the European Union, because it is the basis of our reform plan," he said before signing a coalition agreement on Friday.
"The coalition agreement is a serious framework document. A simple, clear and understandable program of activity of the Ukrainian government is being prepared on its basis," he added.
He also stressed the need to urgently form a government and called on the coalition partners to speed up the nomination of candidates for its composition.
"We're talking not about political quotas, but about the political responsibility of the newly elected parliament, government and president, because people look at the authorities as a whole, and the authorities will bear joint responsibility to the Ukrainian people for the fulfillment of each item and each promise that we've given," he said.
