On Friday night, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with 50 Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles and various types of simulator drones, 33 UAVs were shot down, 10 drones were lost from location and did not reach their targets, according to the Telegram channel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"On the night of January 17, 2025 (from 19:00 on January 16), the enemy used two Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launched from Rostov region), and also attacked 50 Shahed-type attack UAVs and various types of simulator drones from five directions: Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk - Russian Federation," the message says.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems and mobile firing groups were involved in repelling the enemy's air attack.

"As of 09:00, the downing of 33 Shahed-type attack UAVs and other types of drones in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytsky, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions has been confirmed," the Air Force said.

The report clarifies that nine enemy simulator drones were lost locally (without negative consequences), another UAV left the airspace of Ukraine in the direction of Romania.

Enemy attack drones were recorded hitting enterprises in Odesa region, as well as buildings of institutions, private enterprises and households in Kharkiv, Cherkasy and Kyiv regions were damaged as a result of downed enemy UAVs.
