Ukroboronprom sees worsening of its position in U.S. Defense News' 2017 Top 100 companies ranking

State-run Concern Ukroboronprom in 2017 was 72nd in the annual ranking of the 100 largest global defense companies, which is published by U.S. Defense News.

Ukroboronprom's revenue from sales of military products in 2017 was $ 873.45 million, which was 19% less than in 2016, Defense News said.

A year ago, Defense News placed Ukroboronprom on the 62nd position of its ranking with $1.075 billion in revenue in 2016, which was 17% more than in 2015.

As was the case last year, leading American and Western European manufacturers ranked first among the Top 100 largest global defense companies in 2017: Lockheed Martin (the United States) topped the ranking with $47.985 billion (+ 10%), Raytheon Company (the United States) ranked second with $23.573 billion (+ 5%), ВAE Systems (Great Britain) was third with $22.38 billion (-5%).

Official information about arms exports and services sold by Ukroboronprom's enterprises in 2017 was not made public in full. According to the state corporation, its arms exports in the first half of 2017 were $345 million, no comparative dynamics were published. Ukroboronprom expected a 15% rise in exports in 2017 from 2016. Its arms exports in 2016 were estimated at $796.5 million, which was 28% up on 2015. Currently, it exports to more than 80 countries.

Under a presidential decree issued in December 2010, Ukroboronprom incorporates 137 enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry. State arms trader Ukrspecexport and its subsidiaries are also part of Ukroboronprom. Another 21 enterprises managed by the concern are located in temporarily occupied areas in Crimea and Donbas.
